GER­MANY – Grundschule Bobin­gen an der Sin­gold

The small town of Bobin­gen is loc­ated in the South of Ger­many, near the city of Augs­burg. Our primary school (near the small river Sin­gold) has got 250 pu­pils (aged  from 6 to 10 years). The twelve classes are loc­ated in two dif­fer­ent places, of which one is in the sub­urb nearby. Since four years we have classes with a full day sched­ule, be­side the com­monly known half-day classes. About thirty per­cent of our pu­pils have a mi­grant-back­ground, mainly from Tur­key. Chil­dren with isol­ated learn­ing prob­lems as well as chil­dren with spe­cial needs are fully in­teg­rated in the sense of the in­clu­sion idea.

The par­ti­cip­a­tion in the part­ner­ship will en­able both chil­dren and staff to get a bet­ter idea of Europe and what it means to be a European cit­izen. A vari­ety of cre­at­ive activ­it­ies will re­in­force the ex­per­i­ences to be made. The pu­pils will have the chance to learn about dif­fer­ent for­eign cul­tures and their own cul­ture, too. Moreover they train and learn a lot of es­sen­tial skills to pre­pare for fu­ture em­ploy­ment in the la­bour mar­ket. They will im­prove their Eng­lish skills by com­mu­nic­at­ing with their European part­ners. For the teach­ers, the part­ner­ship will of­fer a con­sid­er­able, pro­fes­sion­al de­vel­op­ment, provid­ing an in­sight in­to dif­fer­ent edu­ca­tion­al sys­tems and teach­ing meth­ods, from which the will be­ne­fit in­di­vidu­ally and as a team.
