Kapitel 3: Unterwegs in Polen

Drop­py und Drop­po ge­hen in War­schau, das ist die Haupt­stadt Po­lens, spa­zie­ren und ge­niesßen den son­ni­gen Tag.

„War­schau ist die größ­te Stadt Po­lens“, sagt Drop­py.

„Ich ha­be ge­le­sen, dass vie­le Tou­ris­ten War­schau be­su­chen, um den be­rühm­ten Pa­last der Kul­tur und Wis­sen­schaft zu se­hen. Ich den­ke, dass wir ihn uns auch an­se­hen soll­ten“, schlägt Drop­po vor.

Chapter 3: A Polish Experience

Droppy and Droppo are walk­ing in the city of Warsaw, the cap­it­al city of Po­land, en­joy­ing the sunny day.

„Warsaw is the largest city of Po­land“, says Droppy.

„I have read that many tour­ists vis­it Warsaw to see the fam­ous Palace of Cul­ture and Sci­ence. I think that we should go to see it too“, pro­poses Droppo.          

Nach ein paar Mi­nu­ten sto­ßen sie auf ein rie­si­ges Ge­bäu­de.

„Wow! Ich bin wirk­lich be­ein­druckt !!!“ sagt Drop­py.

„Ich ha­be noch nie so ein ho­hes Ge­bäu­de ge­se­hen“ stimmt ihm Drop­po zu.

„Es sieht von al­len Sei­ten gleich aus“, be­merkt Drop­py.

After a few minutes they come across a huge build­ing.

„Wow! I am really im­pressed!!!“ says Droppy.

„I have nev­er seen such a tall build­ing!“ agrees Droppo.

„It looks the same from all sides“, no­tices Droppy.

Der Frem­den­füh­rer er­klärt, dass der Pa­last der Kul­tur und Wis­sen­schaft 237 Me­ter hoch ist und dass die vier Turm­uh­ren an der Ge­bäu­de-Spit­ze vor den Tau­send­jahr-Fei­ern im Jahr 2000 hin­zu­ge­fügt wur­den.

„Das Ge­bäu­de be­her­bergt vie­le Fes­ti­vals und Auf­füh­run­gen von be­rühm­ten in­ter­na­tio­na­len Künst­lern“, sagt Drop­po.

The tour­ist guide men­tions that the Palace of Cul­ture and Sci­ence is 237 meters high and the four clock faces were ad­ded to the top of the build­ing ahead of the mil­len­ni­um cel­eb­ra­tions in 2000.

„The build­ing hosts many fest­ivals and per­form­ances by fam­ous in­ter­na­tion­al artists“, says Droppo.

„Ich den­ke, wir müs­sen hin­ein­ge­hen und uns das Wich­tigs­te da­von an­se­hen“, schlägt Drop­py vor.

Das In­ne­re ist vol­ler Bü­ros, aber be­son­ders in­ter­es­sant sind das Mul­ti­plex-Ki­no mit acht Bild­schir­men, die zwei Mu­se­en, die Buch­hand­lun­gen und das gro­ße Schwimm­bad! Wir müs­sen auf die Ter­ras­se im 30. Stock ge­hen, um den Pan­ora­ma­blick auf die Stadt zu ge­nie­ßen.

„I think we have to go in­side and see the most im­port­ant parts of it“, pro­poses Droppy.

There are too many of­fices in­side, but the most in­ter­est­ing is that there is a mul­ti­plex cinema with eight screens, two mu­seums, book­shops and a large swim­ming pool! We have to go up to the ter­race on the 30th floor as well, to en­joy the pan­or­amic view of the city.

„Das ist ei­ne groß­art­ge Idee !!!“

So­lan­ge sie in die­sem ho­hen Ge­bäu­de sind, ge­nie­ßen Drop­py und Drop­po ein tra­di­tio­nel­les Volks­fest mit pol­ni­schen Tän­zen.

„Hey, Drop­po! Ich den­ke, wir soll­ten ein paar ro­te Tanz­stie­fel für un­se­ren ge­hei­men Freund kau­fen. Es ist ein sehr ty­pi­sches Ge­schenk für die tra­di­tio­nel­len Pols­ka-Tän­ze.“

„Was für ei­ne tol­le Idee Drop­py! Du hast ja so recht! Der pol­ni­sche Volks­tanz ist das freu­digs­te Schau­spiel für je­den Tou­ris­ten und die ro­ten hand­ge­fer­tig­ten Stie­fel sind so ty­pisch da­für. Lass sie uns für un­se­ren Freund kau­fen.“

„That’s a won­der­ful idea!!!“

As long as they are in the tall build­ing, Droppy and Droppo en­joy a tra­di­tion­al folk fest­iv­al with Pol­ska dances.

„Hey, Droppo! I think we should buy a pair of red dan­cing boots for our secret friend. It is a very typ­ic­al gift de­signed for the tra­di­tion­al Pol­ska dances.“

„What a great idea Droppy! You are so right! The Pol­ish folk dance is the most joy­ful spec­tacle for any tour­ist and the red hand-made boots are so re­lated to them. Let’s buy them for our friend.“

„Ge­ra­de recht­zei­tig! Hier ist der neue Text von un­se­rem Freund Drop­po. Wir müs­sen uns für un­se­re nächs­te Sta­ti­on nach Zy­pern vor­be­rei­ten!“

Am nächs­ten Mor­gen stei­gen sie ins Flug­zeug und be­gin­nen ih­re Rei­se nach Zy­pern. Sie sind sehr glück­lich und sehr ge­spannt auf ein neu­es Land.

Sie schau­en aus dem Fens­ter und spre­chen über all das Neue, was sie über je­des Land, das sie bis­her be­such­ten, ge­lernt ha­ben.

„Just on time! Here is the new text from our friend, Droppo. We have to get ready for our next stop to Cyprus!“

The next morn­ing they get on the plane and they start their trip to Cyprus. They are really happy and anxious to meet and ex­plore a new coun­try.

They are star­ing from the win­dow, talk­ing about everything new they have learnt from every coun­try they vis­ited so far.
